GOAL:
To instill in our students a love for and a connection to Torah, the
Jewish people and the State of Israel and to help them develop
learning and leadership skills necessary to actively continue growing
in these areas.
METHOD:
Machon Gold stresses the needs of the individual. An intensive but
flexible program concentrates on Chumash, Halacha, Nach and Machshava
but allows students to expand their interests. Our teacher/student
ratio of one to three, coupled with a caring administration and
mashgiach ruchani, allows for maximum individual attention and
personal guidance. Different levels are offered, some in Hebrew some
in English with chavruta time varying with the level. Tiyulim, chesed
programs, guest speakers and special Shabbat programs help create a
positive Torah atmosphere.
SETTING:
Located in a modern spacious campus, Machon is in the heart of the
old Katamon neighborhood of Jerusalem. Students are housed in a
comfortable, supervised dormitory (3-4 students per room) which is
open throughout the school year - including vacation periods. Three
catered meals are served daily including Shabbat. Studies take place
in two adjacent buildings which house a beautiful air conditioned
Beit Medrash, dining hall, newly refurbished lounge and classrooms.
SECURITY AND MEDICAL CARE:
There is 24 hour security at Machon. An Eim and Av Bayit (Dorm
parents) and 4 madrichot live on campus. Medical insurance is
provided (no dental) via the Harel Insurance company. Emergency room,
tests, medications and basic physician care are covered.
DAILY SCHEDULE:
Click here to see a sample schedule. All
students attend morning and evening classes with flexibility to move
between classes. Afternoon classes are chosen from electives and
offer a wider range of choices.
STUDENT BODY:
There are approximately 90-100 students at Machon each year. Students
come from the United States, Canada, the CIS, South America,
Australia, South Africa and Eastern and Western Europe.
TIYULIM:
In addition to the bi-monthly half day trips to sites in and around
Jerusalem, Machon offers 5 overnight trips to various areas of the
country. Shabbatonim are held in different communities to allow our
students to experience Israeli life and culture.
SHABBAT MACHON:
Students are given the opportunity to plan a shabbat including theme,
programming and decorations.
AEROBICS/ISRAELI DANCE/CHOIR:
Once a week
CHESED:
Monday afternoons (2 hr requirement) Students participate in numerous
community projects which benefit new olim, the environment, the
elderly, the handicapped or disadvantaged children.
ROSH CHODESH/CHAGIM:
Special programs for all occasions including Yom Haatzmaut and Yom
Yerushalayim celebrations.
APPLICATION:
The tuition for úùñ"ç is $17,500 (including three meals per day)
+ approximately $250 for medical insurance fee (airfare not
included). Parents are also expected to donate $500 to our building
fund, payable to the American Friends of Machon Gold (tax
deductable).
Machon Gold is on the joint program with Y.U. and Touro and credits
are granted by many colleges.
FINANCIAL AID:
Limited financial aid is available for students who present legitimate need.
